Solar Water Pumping Systems

Russell Said:

What's the best way to clear your incoming water pipes of accumulated debris?

We Answered:

if you have steel pipes, replace them! You can get a pump to increase water pressure in your house, they are used when supply pressure is low. Water pressure is measured at .434 psi per foot of head from bottom of holding tank. Municipalities use this formula to design water towers or they use a pumping system to increase pressure in water mains.

Ramon Said:

how would i set up this problem?

We Answered:

Each panel has 6 * 6 = 6^2 = 36 panels.
The system has 2 * 36 = 72 panels.

How does a heat pump work?

We Answered:

A heat pump moves heat - your freezer uses one to pump the heat out of the cool box onto a radiator on the back panel, which gets hot.
To use it for heating you put a pipe in the ground and heat is sucked out of the ground and pumped into your house. You need to couple it into a central heating system that uses low-grade heat - like underfloor heating. But it is very efficient 3kW out for every kW of electricity input.
Solar thermal uses an absorber normally on your roof to absorb heat from the sunlight. Best if your house has a steepish roof facing south and not shadowed.
Depends where you live, what you should choose. Neither system is easy or cheap to fit unless you are rebuilding or completely refitting - its a lot of work and often not worth considering. But for a new build a ground source heat pump can be a good green option and a good selling point.

We Answered:

Here's a hint: hot water, being less dense than cold water, rises.
