Solar System Quiz

Terrence Said:

How many planets are there in our solar system. Was one destroyed last year?

We Answered:

There are only 8 left, because pluto is no longer a planet as of last year. This icy planet is now being classified as a "Dwarf Planet." There are over 40, dwarf planets. Definition of a planet: An object that orbits the sun and is large enough to have become round due to the force of it's own gravity. It also has to dominate the neighborhood around its orbit and pluto doesn't do that. It also has a tiny moon. (Charon).

How many suns are there in the solar system?

We Answered:

A solar system is a system of planets revolving around one or two stars.

In OUR solar system, there is only one sun.

I must add, that there is only one sun. The sun is the star most close to us. the rest are all stars.

Kathy Said:

Why is the sun at the centre of the solar system?

We Answered:

The solarsystem consists of the sun + debris (the debris being the planets). It holds some 98% of all the mass and naturally becomes the gravitational center of the system. So the sun is at the center of the solarsystem because the sun IS the solarsystem.

Kelly Said:

can you name the densest planet in the solar system?

We Answered:

Earth is-
Mercury is the second densest planet after Earth. Earth's density is due to its gravity, otherwise Mercury would be the densest planet in the solar system

Reginald Said:

Planets impossible to see - Just time pass quiz.?

We Answered:

Mercury and Venus: these planets are both closer to the sun than Earth, and so are always on the same side of the Earth as the sun is. However, if it is midnight, you are on the opposite side of the Earth, and so you cannot see them (unless you have some way of looking through several thousand kilometers of rock).
