if its on poster board, then you could buy those round polystyrene balls from a craft store, they come in all different sizes, cut them in half, colour them and make a 2D Solar system.

I don't know about washing up liquid Flashcat but I have read that using a few drops of glycerin or even olive oil would stop poster paint from cracking when it dries.

Depends on how fastidious you're being. Don't include dwarf planets if you're going for a broad overview. Including them could make itm ore detailed, but cluttered and complicated.
