Unfortunately for people like the perpetrators of this sort of nonsense, they can produce not a shred of evidence to back up their wild claims. I am one of those "stupid scientists" who have challenged their claims, but it is a waste of time. They are so closed-minded that no amount of real evidence will sway them from their path. Any statement I publish regarding my work has to be peer-reviewed before it's accepted by anyone in my profession, and even then, there are frequent arguments. This is how it should be in order for science to move forward. The people you refer to are not subject to peer review, so it is up to real scientists to debunk their ideas, rather than have science reduced to the level of thaumaturgy!
