Rebecca Said:

What majors do solar companies hire?

We Answered:

Physics, chemistry and certain types of engineering (primarily electrical or electronic engineers, you could also include computer engineers) would be the most probable majors. I don't think they'd even remotely consider hiring a mathematician without a physics background.

There's lots of things that you could do in such a company. They need researches (mostly physics people, chemistry would probably fit in here as well), modeling (can be physics or engineering), instrumentation engineers (people who set up the measurement systems for characterizing cells), fabrication specialist (could be any of the majors listed, as well as technicians, depending on the equipment). Depending on the company, they might also need someone to design and build the machinery used to fabricate the cells (if the company has some sort of unique manufacturing method).
