Solar Panel Systems For Homes

Tim Said:

Well, it just became 2009, so how are you making the world a better place?

We Answered:

We have all become very busy, from school kids, thru the home maker and bread winner, upto the pensioner, who are healthy and moving about, frantically doing things of sorts that we hope would keep us "happy and secure", only to find ourselves often in a dull routine or discontent..! We do feel great now and then over fleeting joys of achievements that are however rarely of any serious beneficial consequence to either our selves or the society!

It is only given to a precious few to think of the social good seriously and engage in activities of common good.. Out of this few, those who make a dent in global scale are microtessimal.. So I salute you for the question with the hope that it would at least make the few who visit the site, to think beyond our sole interests, to do some social good or at least cut down the harm from our sides..!!

While you seem to be having in mind the global cleansing of the ambience from toxic pollutions, my thought goes a bit beyond to the cleansing of the minds.. that would also take care of the external world.. For, we are all ever in discontent and complaining of this or that problem, the omissions and commissions of this person or group or the other one.. all the time never introspecting on our own omissions!! If we all stopped this fault finding in the first place and did our little to spread a little more smile, a little more care to make the next one foot less filthy by our own nicotine laden smoke or vehicular belch, that would be lot better for all..

I have to differ with "clock work apple" complaint on humanity that is also endorsed by another of her admirer here.. Remember one may be very environmental conscious in the physical sense but less tolerant to human uniqueness / behaviour of sorts.. leading to subtle pollution with hate and hostility - a no less danger to all..

Yes, humans are not evil in essence.. they could be very angeline (bear with my english please) if only the training is proper.. our education had not made us better individuals.. Education should make us better people first, not just info machines who could speak science history or literature.. but not feel the common yearning for love in us all.. Art of happy living should find a place in our curriculum.

So for your question for 2009, I shall intensify my love to all and spread that grand vibration which could cleanse our hearts of the load of hate and intolerance..

In that ambience of univeral caring there would be no abuse of any kind.. The physical ambience would also be kept clean.. for eventual hand over to the tiny ones who clasp our hands in hope and faith of finding happiness in the planet, when we are gone..!!

God (read Good sense, if you like) bless us.

3x8 Decoder Implementation problem?

We Answered:

I am assuming that I1 activates the connection between the solar panel and load, I2 between utility and load, and I3 between battery and load. If this is the case, then
I1 = S
I2 = S'U
I3 = S'U'B

These three logical functions can be implemented with two inverters to generate the S' and U' signals and two AND gates. From a logic standpoint, this is a lot cheaper than implementing these functions with 3-to-8 decoders. However, this can also be done with two decoders. The signal I1 needs no decoder, since it is simply signal S. By setting the high-order signal to zero, one 3-to-8 decoder can be effectively converted to a 2-to-4 decoder to generate I2. Assuming that S is connected to the middle-order bit, then I2 would be derived from the output corresponding to the number 1. Similarly, by connecting S to the high-order input of a second converter, U to the middle input, and B to the low-order input, the signal I3 can be derived from the output for number 1.

Or, assuming one 3-to-8 decoder with S connected to its high-order input, U to the middle input, and B to the low-order input, I1 can be derived directly from S or, if it is necessary to go through the 3-to-8 decoder, from ORing outputs 4, 5, 6, and 7. Similarly, I2 can be gotten by ORing outputs 2 and 3 and I3 taken directly from output 1. Output 0 can presumably be set to activate an alarm indicating that the load has no power - assuming that enough power is available in the absence of all three power sources to operate the logic and the alarm.
