Solar Cooling Systems

Sarah Said:

what is a passive solar heating&cooling system?

We Answered:

It is a design which provides heat and cooling to a home or building without using any electricity or fuel. No fans, no motors, etc. It is a design which utilizes the sun, and natural storage media, like water, or rocks etc. for heating, and proper thermal ventilation functions for cooling.

Stacy Said:

solar cooling system-for maintainig cold chain and house cooling -how does it work?

We Answered:

Frankly your wrong about the big panel thing
we had photovoltaic shingles installed and you'd never know what they are
even my neighbor didn't know what they were for over a year
until he asked where he could by roof shingles.
you might want to look into them
cost wise they were the same price as a top of the line shingle
I did the labor myself so I cant talk about that end

1) How are heating and cooling systems alike? how are they different?

We Answered:

You should do your own homework instead of asking other to help you cheat. People who give you the answers are hurting you in the long run. When you grow up you will understand how bad it was to cheat.

Gertrude Said:

Some cooling systems are powered by a small gas flame. Can this process be accomplished using solar heat.?

We Answered:

Yes. These gas powered "absorbtion cycle" units could possibly be converted to solar power for the heat source. There is still some electrical power required for a small circulating pump, but it is a lot less than the electrical power required for a "Vapor compression cycle" unit.

Ryan Said:

Dose any one know where i can get a blue print of the solar cooling system?

We Answered:

There are 3 types of solar air-conditioning systems:

1. Absorption refrigeration. This system requires solar concentrators to be of any applicable efficiency. They are expensive and uncommon.

2.Photovoltaic Compressor. This system uses a typical compressor type air conditioner but user photovoltaic power. These are uncommon because it would take $30,000 in solar panels to offset the typical air-conditioner. Occasionally units use a solar panel to power the fan to make the unit appear green, while the fan is a very small portion of its power consumption.

3. Photovoltaic-Dual stage evaporative cooler. This system uses 2 solar panels to power a fan. It works like a swamp-cooler but by using a heat exchanger it puts the moist air back outside and puts cool dry air into your house at a fraction of the power usage.
