Pictures Of The Planets In The Solar System

Edward Said:

Is it actually dark in space when your far from the sun and out of the solar system?

We Answered:

The Sun is what gives our solar system light. If your out of the solar system as well as any other star system, all you would see is stars. It would be darker than any night you've ever seen on earth (remember the moon provides us light too).

Edit: I'm speaking in the perspective of a spaceship in deep space, there should be enough of an atmosphere in a spaceship to scatter light.

Jennifer Said:

Is The sun's gravity the cause of why the planets are aligned?

We Answered:

The Sun's gravity is why the planets orbit the Sun and not just move off in a straight line. The reason they are nicely spaced out and not in danger of colliding with each other is that all the ones that were in danger of colliding have already done so billions of years ago. For example, Earth was hit by an object as big as Mars billions of years ago, and that formed the Moon.

Ramon Said:

Why are all the planets round, yet so many asteroids are all different shapes?

We Answered:

the planets have a spherical shape because of their volume, mass and rotation.

Victoria Said:

Why no color pictures taken by sattelites?

We Answered:

There are. Lots of them. Natural and false colour.

Addendum: not much video per se, because things don't happen very quickly. But lots of animations of interesting things.

Ron Said:

How do I say "The Solar System" in French for a childrens school wall display?

We Answered:

Le système solaire
