i live in Andalucia, and want to get a grid tie-in with Endesa/Sevillana. Is this possible?

We Answered:

New government programmes oblige the electricity company to buy any surplus energy you generate. Contact your local electric company and ask them about their net metering or feed-in-tariff program.

What would it cost to power the United States from renewable resources, mainly solar?

We Answered:

There is no short cut to alternative energy, and it's going to cost this country bundles over the next 25-30 years, and yes, before you ask, you, the taxpayers, will be footing the bill. Right now the U.S. has very little to no infastructure for new energy technoligy. The biggest sticking point is this. Right now, there is little to no demand for alternative energy. We will continue to pay through the nose in this country to import oil (we import approx: 60% and that is too much).
Much of our oil imports come from the middle east, and considering the volitile situation in that region of the world at present, these radicals could cut our oil supply at ANY time, leaving us vulnerable to a degree. Yes, we do produce some of our own oil in the U.S. but only about 40%, and our refineries are antiquated and wore out, and we have not built a new refinery since 1976! America has an abundance of oil and natural gas that is just waiting to be tapped. But, we have allowed ourselves to be bound by environmental laws, to the stage, where we can no longer gain access to our own natural rescources, and we have done this to ourselves! If that is not bad enough, we are now being faced with the same problems by radical environmentalists of whom are trying to stop the production of many alternative energy plants. They say it is dangerous to the environment. Is this making any sense to you? Can you see the inherent dangers here that we in this country are facing if we continue in accepting the status quo? We are doomed if we do, and we are doomed if we don't. It will take at least 20 years for the U.S. to become somewhat self reliant on alternative energy. In the meantime, oil is the most affordable energy commodity that we have and we should be producing much more of our own in our own country and not spending millions of dollars importing the stuff. Things have got to change,

Looking to change from gas heat to something a bit more economical. Don't know where to begin!?

We Answered:

I have an amazing pellet stove, I have a multilevel 2000 sf home and use it as my primary heat source. I also save a little money buying by the pellet. I used cheap pellets a few years ago and used about double what I usually do, so the the actual pellets make a difference.

The only negative thing about the type of type of stove I have is it won't work without electricity. We rarely have power outages here, but the one time I did, it was a problem, when the fan shuts off it started smoking a lot. I was able to add it to my computers battery back up and solved the problem.
