Start with a 6 foot weather balloon, color it yellow-white. That is the sun. Paint a marble blue with green splotches and white streaks. You have the Earth. Make other planets from different sized balls. Put rings of thin paper on wood sticks around Saturn. You can try to get some foam spheres from a craft or hobby shop.
Place the sun at your schoolyard, and planets around your town at the correct distances.

how about using different fruits as the planets? every size from a cherry to a personnel size watermelon. String them on heavy yarn or string if you want to try to hang them or just lay them out in the right order on a board, have fun.
