What you saw was most likely the planet Venus. The fading was due to distant clouds...often when objects are near the horizon, clouds in front of them are so far that the clouds themselves can't be seen, just the dimming of the light.

Incidentally, there is now one satellite which is brighter than Venus, the International Space Station, but it would have been moving more noticeably than what you saw.

There would be nothing in the news about Venus because it is almost always in the sky, morning or evening, and very bright, so it isn't newsworthy. I don't know what the red dots would be, but perhaps you were seeing a high flying plane rather than a satellite.

Quite simply, planet x, or Nirubu or whatever, doesn't exist. It's a fallacy created by over-paranoid fools designed to cheer on those same over-paranoid fools. Then with their collective over-paranoid foolishness, they spread paranoia and foolishness. Does this make sense?

It's comparable to the Y2K scare, and more recently the 2012 scare. None of which are worth considering realistic.
