you can use rocks and make planets and the sun out of it. Then in your yard you can scale down the solar system a bit and they can visually see where the solar system is with the planets. A small rock can be pluto, a painted red rock can be mars, a huge rock can jupiter can be a huge rock.

Also at night see if you can spot some of the planets.

Depending on how many kids you have but you can have one kid be the moon, another be the earth and another be the sun. You can show the rotation around the sun using the children as models and how it becomes day and night and how the seasons change.

I hv very good idea about teaching kids the importance of SUN. I was pre school teacher for 15 yrs I always do this activities when ever any child's birthday comes. The birthday child holds the candle as a sun and each child sits in a circle as a month and child who holds the candle hops to each child and say hello and this way he completthe cirle and when his month comes then we sing happy birthday to him . I hope u got the concet and good luck when u make money give me my share bye
