House Solar Power System

Carlos Said:

I am trying to find a good solar system?

For short periods of time it would be more cost effective to get a gas generator, however you did post this under green living so I'm assuming that you are not to concerned about the cost. To buy solar panels, you will have to buy through a distributor (eg. http://sunelec.com/) since solar panels are not very mainstream, hopefully w/ time the price of the panels will drop. The cheaper panels go for about $2.90/watt. You will also need a battery array to store the electricity, a larger array for extended periods of time. As well to modulate the voltage from the battery array you will need a power converter to step up the voltage to the usual 120v that you find in your regular outlet.

Solar panel (180w) ~ $500
Battery array (depends on the capacity) ~ $150 - $400
Converter ~ $100 - $200
