Complete Solar Systems

How many light years away are some of the solar systems closest to our own?We Answered:
To be SPECIFIC: There is only one "Solar System" in the universe. That is the system of planets around the star, "Sol," out star. What you are after is what is called an "Extrasolar planet." Here is a link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extrasolar_…
Here is a catalog website of all known extrasolar planets (currently 344)

About space travel:
Man presently might have the technology and ability to send a man to Neptune. At the speed of 50,000 miles per hour we would need to provide life support to the astronauts for several years. It would take 6.4 years at 50,000 mph to go to Neptune – one way. Now consider the NEAREST star. At a speed of 1,000,000 miles per hour it would take 2,885 years just to get there AND that is only to the nearest star!
Consider this: if the sun were about the size of a golf ball, 1 inch in diameter, the closest approach between Earth and Mars would be about four and a half feet and the orbit of Neptune would be 300 feet away. At that scale the NEAREST star would be 461 MILES away.

Justify that I am wrong :- " Our complete solar system and the galaxy is inside a Black Hole"?We Answered:
Dude...I think this may be the justification.........Whole of our solar system and galaxy aren't in a black hole..but surround black hole..
Black hole is the centre of every galaxy....
Black hole is nothin but a huge star(before it's death)...When the huge mass is contracted or squeezed to small mass the mass is said to be blak hole and posesses immense gravity and absorbs any thing even the light is absorbed..Many say light can't be bent, but in black hole path of light is disturbed by the gravity and it starts rotating. Our sun may become a black hole if the radius of sun is reduced 3-5 kilometers...
Black hole may have many dimensions.....
Everything in our galaxy is in the influential distance of a black hole....Because of its influence our solar system is revolving around the balck hole with other solar systwms in our galaxy like the earth and other planets revolve around the sun..
So in general black holes are proofs for the death of very HUMOUNGOUS STARS which have immense gravity which can attract anything around it....
If a black hole of a galaxy has a bit less gravity than the other and the galaxy is naer to another galaxy whose black hole posesses immense gravity than the other then the two galaxies may collide with each other and may merge with each other causing a huge disturbance and scatter dangerous radiations into the universe......
Thus I say that the black holes are the MESTERIOUS MATTERS IN THE UNIVERSE.

how long does it take the solar system to complete it s orbits within and around the milky way?We Answered:
roughly 225-250 million years, or a galactic year. I'm not sure what the orbits are called. Sorry.Brad Said:
How long does it take for our Solar System to to complete 1 circle along the Ecliptic in the Milky Way Galaxy? We Answered:
IF you are asking how long a cosmic year for the Solar System is, the answer is 230 to 250 milion years, depending upon the source you use. Most sources say 240 million years.http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_a_cosm…
Vincent Said:
how long does our solar system complete one orbit around the center of the milky way?We Answered:
It takes around 200 million years. I believe it's called a cosmic tick or some such.Since the Earth is around 5 billion years old, it means the earth has been around the galaxy about 25 times since it formed.
How likely do you think it is that a solar system can travel right around the galaxy 25 times without having some kind of disastrous encounter along the way? Do you suspect that our solar system may have been one of the lucky ones to have survived such a journey? Interesting questions eh?
