Engineers have designed solar systems and companies sell them on the internet. So find a solar system that is good and see how it works and how it stores energy. The best batteries now are the ones used in hybrid electric automobiles (lithium ion). But they may be too expensive, so you can compare to marine "deep cycle" lead acid batteries to store electrical energy. There are other ways to store solar energy like heating water or converting salts to a liquid state etc.
