Batteries For Solar Power Systems

Marian Said:

can some one please give me schematics for a 9v solar power battery charger ?

We Answered:

Much easier to buy one, since you have to buy the solar array anyway.

Make sure you get one that will automatically cut off the charge when the battery is fully charged, so you avoid overcharging and damage to the battery.

What can i use to power an air pump with no electricity outlets near by?

We Answered:

I've found your solution! ON e-bay they have a battery powered air pump it uses 2 D-cell batteries. they probably won't last for two month's though. Also, I think many air pumps use a "wall wart". that is a voltage reducing transformer that looks like a little box which plugs right into your outlet. So the actual voltage going to the pump may only be 6 volts or 12. if you look at the wall wart it will tell you the input voltage and output voltage. just remove the box and feed the appropriate battery voltage directly to the pump.

Need help with computer and solar power?

We Answered:

If budget is paramount, and I expect it might be in your situation, then you probably do not want a solar electric system. That might eventually be cheaper than a gas-powered generator, but for the price of an RV-sized solar electric system, you could get a small generator and many year's supply of gasoline. In fact, I would say even if you could afford the solar, get the generator anyway, because it will be reliable rain or shine, day or night.

I would also recommend that you buy a laptop, and sell your old computer on craigslist. In a trailer, you will be cramped for space. You can still plug your nice keyboard and monitor into the laptop. And if worse comes to worse and you have no power yet in the trailer, you can take the laptop to a library, coffee shop, bookstore, McDonald's, etc., plug it in to charge it there, and at the same time do your work.
