Solar Thermal Power Plants

Laura Said:

Solar Thermal Tower Plants or Solar Stirling Dish Farms?

We Answered:

A "solar thermal tower" could mean a power tower that uses heliostats or a solar chimney that creates wind currents to power a wind generator in the chimney. Either takes a large land area. This article says the the solar parabolic dish with a stirling engine generator has been made to be the most efficient: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/200… This also has an advantage of being scalable.

What is so wrong about using nuclear power?

We Answered:

You have to understand the corruptness of our government to know the answer to this question. Barack Hussein Obama the democratic party, and some others in government are making large momonetary gains by holding back progress in nuclear, and other power sources. They will regulate what we can, and can't use. The things that will be allowed are things that (they) have invested in. And plan on making a great deal of money from.
Obama stated, during his campain for president, that he was all for nuclear power. Along with allot of other things. But now that he is in power do you see him advancing this technology? NO WAY

Victor Said:

How much more electricity does a nuclear power plant produce than other power stations?

We Answered:

well the major downside for a nuclear plant is it need cooling, which normally means it has to be near a major river.

i know that coal has between 15000-30000 KJ/Kg ..depends on what type of coal
and uranium has ~45000 KJ/gr ...or...45MJ/gr
natural gas about 40000...
i dont know if these figures are the potential or the actual output. And don't forget that every power plant has a different need for electricity itself...(a % out of what it produces)

so...uranium contains more than 1000 times the energy of the same amount of coal/natural gas

a turbine from a very large Hydro plant generally produces 700MW/h. Normally you have several of those.

Josephine Said:

Coal fired power plants are no better than 40% efficient. What happened to the other 60%?

We Answered:

1.
B, nearly 50% of power generated is used to run electrical motors (mostly pumps). and a little of D.

2. A

Greg Said:

Why don't we build more power plants?
