Solar Powered Watch

Irene Said:

Would you prefer a solar powered watch over a battery powered?

We Answered:

Battery powered because I don't want to stay out in the sun. I'd like my apt. to be solar powered though.

Theresa Said:

Need a solar powered sports watch under $100?

We Answered:

A lot of Casio G shock watches are solar powered and water resistant to 200m (nothing is completely waterproof) which should be good for like swimming and stuff, not deep sea diving though. They're really durable, though a bit bulky, and you'll find most for under $100. You can find them at a lot of department stores (macy's, jcpennys), maybe even walmart.

Kirk Said:

will my solar powered watch be recharged by UV rays produced by the finnish sauna I use or do I need the sun?

We Answered:

Regular incandescent or white light spectrum sunlight is better. Most solar cells for here on earth are designed for visible light response peak since so little UV reaches us.
"...a silicon solar cell under glass. At short wavelengths below 400 nm the glass absorbs most of the light and the cell response is very low. At intermediate wavelengths the cell approaches the ideal."

It is only satellite panels that have extended range response.
UV will degrade most materials over time.

Ernest Said:

where does a solar powered watch originate?

We Answered:

From any number of manufacturing plants that makes such items -

Ron Said:

how do i check that my watch is real solar power watch or not?

We Answered:

Short of opening the watch the only way is to leave it in the dark.

If it's truly a Solar watch, it will "go dead" after a period of time. How long that takes depends on the energy storage capacity of the watch (which should be in you instruction book).
