Solar Powered Vehicle

Jimmy Said:

I am looking for vehicle hazard lights that can be magnetically attached and would be solar powered?

We Answered:

Solar powered, At Night? I have to ask, Why?
Do you break down that much?
Any info you can give for the purpose would be great. Maybe we/I could give a different/better solution.
Good Luck.

EDIT:Oh, what I have seen around hear is a orange bubble type spinning flashing light on the utility trucks and the same style is used on private party plow trucks here in MN. They are small, very bright, and do not draw that much juice, and magnetic. You can plug them into the cigarette lighter or hard wire them and toggle it to just leave them there. In MN when plowing with a pick up you have to have this light on by law. Where to get them, I know they sell them with plowing accessories in the plow lights section. Click here, http://www.northerntool.com and in the search box type in flashing plow lights. the first one for $16.00 is the common one used. You can buy solar powered 12-volt battery chargers. I know they make them for the battery operated boat lifts in our area to recharge the batteries out on the docks. I hope this will you out some. Good luck.

Stacey Said:

when will we have solar powered vehicles on the streets ?

We Answered:

All the vehicles Ive seen online are still just too heavy to use all the on board solar power to transport someone down the road. It becomes a trade off... you need more surface area to have more solar panels, and this adds more weight..

Some bikers have mounted solar panels on the roof, side, or pulled a trailer... and that's a good start, but my favorite is THEKPV.

This vehicle has solar panels as the wind fairing, plus the bike is only 50lbs.. He doesn't say how much solar power it uses riding down the road.. But the site mentions using the solar power to charge batteries, and capacitors in smaller groups so I assume he can utilize the 50 watts of on board solar power to match 50 watts from the battery and ride down the road on 100 watts @ 50% solar. This is probably very slow.. compared to a car.

Cloudy weather

Linda Said:

what are the advantages and disadvantages of a solar powered vehicles.?

We Answered:

Very expensive. Have very little power. Forget about headlights and AC because solar is not practical and never will be and is only for gimmicks and hobbies. Obama talks about it a lot but hes just playing on people's ignorance to sound sool. Only work in bright daylight.

Cynthia Said:

When will solar-powered vehicles be made public for everyone?

We Answered:

I hope never. You're not gonna get past 40 MPH, they're gonna be huge to try and get as much surface area as possible for the solar panels, and I don't want to be behind one when it dies because we're in a tunnel. Then there's night, you can't go anywhere unless you've got 25 spotlights strapped to the car shining on the panels. I think the solar-cars and the electric cars are not the future. They're too expensive, run out of juice to quickly, and have too many little "issues." I really think hydrogen-powered vehicles are the way to go.

Calvin Said:

If i could build a solar powered Anti-gravity vehicle for a reasonable price would you be tempted to invest?

We Answered:

Definitely! But my background in science and in independent, objective thinking puts me in a better position than most to evaluate the claims, both theoretical and practical. Most people would be just as wise to invest in that as they would to invest in shares of the Golden Gate Bridge, or ocean-front property in Iowa (US).
