The video is good, and the concept is doable. The view of the four cells shows exactly how to wire it. It is nearly impossible to put it in print, you need a wiring diagram.

One problem with this is the fact that the charge voltage on a solar cell is not regulated. It is possible in bright sunlight for this kind of device to supply excessive current to batteries, which could shorten their life. This would happen if the solar cells were in very bright direct sunlight.

If I was doing this I would add a few components, like a zenor diode and associated resistors, which would limit the output current so that in very bright sunlight it would not charge the batteries too fast and do harm to them.

Did you test it with a meter? Or to charge a phone or something?

If the meter says zero, then it's the wiring.

If the phone does not charge, you need to make sure the thing is totally out of power. If there is any charge, the solar cells may not have enough juice to push power into the battery.

Most chargers use a diode to ensure power can only go from charger to eqt and not the other way.

Then there's the possiblity of overcharging the eqt and ruining the battery and even the eqt. In the video, you will notice he got rid of the circuit board, which regulates the power, and protects the rechargeable battery. There is a reason why those things are there.

I would recommend you look at more videos on the subject. There should be ones that will give you a better, more reliable setup. Or at least a second perspective on the wiring to provide additional insight.
