Solar Powered Fountains

Eric Said:

do solar powered fountains have battery storage to run at night?

We Answered:

We have a little fountain powered by a solar panel. On a cloudy day, the pump doesn't. In the dark, the pump doesn't. If the collecting panel is not in direct sun, the pump doesn't pump at all. I've asked around and shopped around and a unit that will store power is expensive beyond reason.

Where can I find a good solar powered fountain for my yard?

We Answered:

I bought this solar powered fountain at simplyfountains.com: http://www.simplyfountains.com/outdoor-f…

I liked it and it worked great, but the problem is that it (and I think all of them) needs very bright, direct sun to function (if a cloud passes over then it stops flowing until the sun is exposed again). The direct sunlight causes the water to either evaporate quickly or turn green. For me, it became too much work to keep it clean and full of water so now it's in the garage :(.

Do solar powered fountains work?

We Answered:

My experience has been that the solar-powered ones are not very powerful, and often don't work at all, such as on a cloudy day. There are adaptors you can purchase that make it so you can place the solar panels in a different area than the fountain so that if you are in shade, you can theoretically place the panels in the sun, but even this way does not seem to give the fountain much "oomph." If it were me, I'd save my money and buy a "real" (i.e., AC current powered) fountain with a reliable pump allows me to change the power/output, and will run whenever I want it to, instead of only when the cosmos allign and conditions are just right.

Hope this helps.

My dog has bitten through the wire of my solar powered fountain how can I repair it ?

We Answered:

Easy. get a razor knife or a wire stripper, cut the covering off of the two wires, twist the hot side together , twist the common side together (or vice versa), wrap each wire with electrical tape seperately, then wrap all together with electrical tape. Just make sure the two wires arent touching.

Suggestions for a good solar powered pond fountain?

We Answered:

i dont think you wil find one. It would take a large solar array to power a pump.
I know ,the greenies never mention the realities of solar power.
You would need to have some large batteries, charge the with a soalr array, then use them to power your pump. untill they went dead.

Solar powered fountains, what kind of pump?

We Answered:

Your first issue is to determine the output of your solar unit in watts and volts and then buy a pump that matches the voltage and does not exceed the wattage.
