Frog201 the point is the system will be well and truly paid for by then.

For example - NSW gross tariff means a 5kW system which will cost between $15-$20k (let's say $20k, but they CAN be purchased for $15k...) will earn you about $4,400 per year. (5kW = 20kWh average per day X 365 = 7,300kWh per year X 60c = $4,380)

Because NSW is gross that figure is certain. And it means the $20k system will be paid off in about 4.5 year - leaving you with about $11k of guaranteed profit from the FiT contract; increased value for your home; AND the knowledge that you've been operationally carbon zero for electricity use.

After 2017 even if the FiT goes back to 40c (or even 1 for 1 with grid costs), who's to complain?...
