Solar Power Lights

Mathew Said:

solar power outlet for Christmas lights?

We Answered:

I know, you'd like it to be magical, but if money is tight, I wouldn't do a display at all, or at least, not an electric one. I would take a night-time walk with the kids to enjoy the more impressive houses in the neighborhood. It's a good lesson for children, too, that when times are tough, we can still enjoy things without spending a lot of money. We had no yard lights at all when I was growing up, but I never felt deprived.

does anyone else have solar power lights at their stables?

We Answered:

thinking of getting my friend one who has same problem. QVC has a good double light for £39, check it out on qvc.co.uk, if you buy now, can return up and till 25th January if you find it doesnt work for you, you do have to pay the postage for returned items. hope that helps

Do you leave solar power lights out in garden all year round?

We Answered:

Yes, you can, but if you live in severe winter locations, I'd bring them in. Cold is hard on the plastics. And as said above, if you aren't in the garden, why have them? Good time to clean them up and replace the battery....if you can find the replacement parts.

If you want a more permanent outdoor lighting, might be time to go with a wired 12 volt system.

Can i solar power my security lights?

We Answered:

2 100 watts is a lot of power for a solar system. Could be expesive. Try a system that uses low wattage LED. The link is for a turn-key system that will actually work. It is not cheap. If you have grid power, use it with a battery backup system.

Amber Said:

Can you connect several strings of solar power Christmas lights together?

We Answered:

Solar Christmas lights are a fantastic way to be eco-friendly at Christmas. To answer your questions, each strand of lights will need its own solar panel, and the longest strand of lights in pure solar at the moment is approx 30m in length. Any larger, and it is very difficult to ensure the power output and consistency of the LED brightness (which is why longer strands are not available). The solar panel can be fixed to a branch or trunk with mounting hardware. Ensure your tree has ample sunlight during the day and the solar panels can be fixed at the end of the branch to ensure maximum sunlight.
Make sure you buy Solar Christmas lights that do not turn off when a lighting source, eg street light hits the solar panel (you need to check with the supplier) otherwise your community will be disappointed. Good quality solar lights can distinguish between sun light and street lighting.
