"what have you done for others to help make this world a better place?

We Answered:

i know tons of people that just do volunteer work or donate because of extra credit or because it looks good in a college application. but that's not me..
i pity people who don't do the right things for the right reasons
i volunteer a lot of my time to help as much as possible!
and i donate because i care.
the world needs more people who just do things for the sake of just helping out.. what happened to people and their priorities?

Willard Said:

.."what have I done for others, not thinking of what is in it for me?"?

We Answered:

The first answerer is right, whenever we do good to others, it is for the benefit (wittingly or unwittingly) of our own self. A friend always emphasize the universal principle, "Whatever you sow, so shall you reap". Whatever we release to the universe, it shall come back to us a hundredfold. The word "selfless" is empty because we always get back what we give.

If we want to give to make this world a better place, it not only for our children, it is for us too because we are part of it. If we want to skip a meal so we can donate a few dollars to the poor and homeless, what do we get in return? A simple easing of our guilt and profound self gratification.

My friend, let us just do what we think is best in this world, or what is best for our egos.

Geothermal Heating Of Water?

We Answered:

let's see, where do we really need heat?
Alaska. Obviously.

Now let's say you drill a geothermal well down, 100', or 500', or 1,000' or more, what temperature do you think you'll find?

FREEZING. Permafrost is several thousand feet deep in most of the arctic circle.
Maybe not such a good idea after all.

Did you read about the miners?
That survived 2,000 ft down in a very hot desert area?
For 2 months.
For the first 17 days, they had no contact with the surface at all.
Did they bake?
It was hot, but certainly not boiling.
and that was 2,000' down in a hot desert.

Maybe this idea just isn't going to work.
