Solar Power Grants

Joseph Said:

Where would I look to find grants for switching to solar power for a non-profit private college?

We Answered:

You may want to look at several sources for grants:

1) State energy conservation office. May have some stimulus money
2) Utilities in your area
3) U.S. Department of Energy
4) U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
5) U.S. Dept. of Agriculture
6) U.S. Dept of Education
7) Public utility commission in your state. They may have some stimulus money.
8) Local government entities
9) The private sector - Large corporations like GE, Ford, GM, Siemens, Philips, etc.
10) State education agency

Troy Said:

What are grants out there for a university converting to solar power?

When and if you get serious about solar power have a look at Sun Electronics. My Uncle, In Laws and Brother have all used them and are really happy with their finished products. My Uncle had them do a large retro fit on his place in the Florida Keys, My In Laws had them do a project outside of Chicago, and my brother used them for his boat in the Caribbean.

Good Luck

Evelyn Said:

Does anyone know how to research Federal and State grants for solar power?

We Answered:

I have searched for grants for Solar and Wind Turbine set-ups and have not been able to find any for residential (Home owners). You can get loans, but sorry haven't found any grant programs.
