Only in the economical areas. If the energy charge from the power company is cheaper than the investment in solar panels, heater, etc. then it would be more realistic to simply use the power company.

However, in areas where substantial savings can be acheived by utilizing solar powered products, then yes, it would be great.

Canada is too far from the equator to be competitive with solar power. With all of the untapped rivers, tides and winds on the plains solar just does not make sense when compared to other alternative energy. Add to the fact the the Dominion has one vast tar sands and coal supplies I can't see a reason to use solar.
