Solar Panel Energy

Joy Said:

around how much energy will a 300 watt solar panel produce?

We Answered:

Watts is equal to work. Volts multiplied by Amps is Watts. If you know any of the two, you can calculate the third.

Your 300 Watt panel is nominally rated at 300 Watts, depending on the output voltage it was configured to produce, a 24 volt panel will produce a little more than 12 Amps at peak solar alignment with the panel. It will usually also produce close to 35 volts. A 12 volt panel will yield a bit more than 24 Amps, and will peak the voltage close to 20.

Any time you see a Wattage rating, Be it a photovoltaic panel, a lightbulb, a TV set, etc, it is always the same equation: W=E times I W is watts, E is voltage (potential energy) and I is current in Amps. It is just a matter of whether it is producing it- such as with a solar panel or a gas powered generator, or disipating it, like a light bulb, a heater, a TV set, etc.

Glen Said:

How much energy you need from a solar panel to charge a battery that has 3.75 volts?

We Answered:

To make things simple.....
I would look at the regular cell phone charger (wall plug type), and it says on it, for example, Output 5V DC 0.7 A
This is what your solar cell should deliver at full sun blast.
The regulating circuit for charging your cell phone battery is inside the phone, so even if your battery is 3.7Volt, the charger delivers 5 Volt.
