We Answered:

the deal with PG&E is that they will reduce your bill by the amount of energy you generate.
but they will not pay you for any extra.

if you're thinking of contracting to go into business, the rate that they would pay you is WAY LESS than what they charge you at home.
you do realize that someone has to pay for all the transmission wires, etc.

so far, even home systems only pay for themselves because of government subsidies.
when all the costs are factored in, they lose money, even with PG&E paying retail price for the electricity.

so no, you cannot make money at this.
