I did just that for around 20 years. What that company is really doing is helping themselves (like all employers). They will be saving a fortune on insurance, especially workers compensation, and taxes. You will basically be a construction subcontractor just like I was.
No health insurance.
No workers comp insurance.
Higher taxes for you (especially self employment tax for Social Security).
There are some advantages, such as more deductions on taxes. You get to claim all your mileage on your truck (if you are buying the gas) because you'll be hauling your tools around with you, and that's a huge deduction. You'll need to keep an accurate driving log, and save every work related receipt for everything. Because doing taxes becomes a huge ordeal itemizing and going "long form". Overall I liked it because I liked the work.
Here is why I don't recommend it for outside construction type "labor". I fell and crushed my right shoulder. Had no kind of insurance, health or workers comp, and amassed $50k in med bills. Couldn't do the work anymore and ended up going bankrupt because of it. So, if you choose to go for it, make sure you check out the cost of insurance for yourself. And also whether YOU would be responsible for workers comp for your help.

NO. As I have no clue at this time of what I should prepare for.Although there is a lot of prophecy out there circulating I think,its more a scare tactic than anything real.Who knows our world is changing all the time it may just be the time of a big one.I too like to keep an open mind about it.
