If solar energy is used to create electricity, that electricity when used, becomes heat eventually, regardless of how it is used.
The blanket on your lawn doesn't kill the grass because it blocks the sun's heat, but because it blocks the ultraviolet light that the grass needs to photosynthesize.

We Answered:

It sounds great, but it's currently impossible. The existing solar panels aren't strong enough to collect enough energy to run the car, even if you covered the entire car with them. Remember, you're trying to move 2000 lbs or more of metal and plastic. If the panels could collect enough energy, they could store it in a battery, like electric cars do now, and that would allow people to get home when the sun went down, but until we can get the solar technology to work, the whole idea fails.
