Solar Panels For Rv

Clyde Said:

Need some help / review of my travel guide across America?

We Answered:

Ok who's going to finance this venture? You have to consider variables like weather traffic, construction and fuel costs. A gallon of gas goes for over $3.50 in CA while as little as $2.25 in SC. Add a link to:http://www.gasbuddy.com/ to your favorites. I drove from Marin County in CA to Central SC last month. While it was not a vacation, I did it in 4 days. I charge 50 cents a mile or roughly $1000 one way.

how much do you think a motorhome is worth?

We Answered:

Dont use the internet as a guide. Call a local RV dealer and ask them the value. I've seen 40 foot southwinds around the 90's for sale anywhere from 6-13grand. The older RV is somewhat undesirable, The reason why I said call a RV dealer (they buy old RV's and try to get people to buy new ones, just like car dealers), Is with the valuable extras you have on yours, you will not get a fair price. The solar panels and generator add value. Most RV's dont come with solar panels, and the older ones generators generally do not work anymore.

What size inverter do i need?

We Answered:

TRY DVDoverseas.com I never have done business with them personally, you either need to get a 240 volt generator, or figure out what you need online dvdoverseas.com , then see if you can find one there. sounds like you need to go 12 volts dc, to 240v (Hertz is ?) could be 50 hertz, could be 60 hertz (its important to know what this is) charge batteries with generator. It is going to be rated in watts similar to generator, In order to properly find inverter wattage you need, you have to find the ratings on appliances, which may be on a plate on the back, or the bottom or on owners manual for appliance, 3,000 to 4,000 minimum I would think, with a 4 thousand watt being safer bet. If you contact a local rv parts supplier, they should have access to charts that will give you an idea of wattage rating for appliances for rv.

Install Converter from 120 Volt to 12 Volt in New Construction Home?

We Answered:

As I live in an RV, I think I'm qualified to answer. 1. The solar panel actually saps power when not charging. 2. Car batteries don't last too long when discharged, recharged, etc. 3. the 12V will save energy, but are not as bright as you prpbably need. 4. It can be a royal pain until you get used to it., you would probably be better off using an inverter for power outages, powered off your car.

Help with U Haul renovation?

We Answered:

OK, a few things here, I have no experience with RVs, ETC but experience with kitchen and restaurant design, as well as experience loading and unloading trucks:

1. All food prep (includes coffee shops) businesses need to be licensed by local health departments. This will drive parts of your equipment needs as well. This also becomes particularly tricky if you are planning on serving multiple jurisdictions.

2. Insulation is extremely important. Trucks get very hot in summer and cold in winter; with the equipment the cold may not be too bad. You'll want to use a high-quality rigid insulation for maximum effect.

3. Piggybacking on #3, You will not be able to "pipe" the A/C from the cab to the rear. You'll need much larger units to cool that space and the heat it generates, plus then the units can be operated off the generator rather than the engine.

It sounds like a cool and exciting project though. Would be interesting to start a blog detailing your process, to drive "viral" marketing and generate some buzz. People are always interested in new and unique ideas.
