Solar Panel Mount

Stacey Said:

Is there a temperature sensor that needs to be mounted to the collector on the solar panel?

We Answered:

Generally, a thermister or thermocouple, but you need to look on the specs for the control for what it uses and where it needs to be mounted.

Ralph Said:

I need to draw up a blueprint so to speak of a solar panel mount.?

We Answered:

CAD (Computer Aided Design) is the type of software that is typically used to create those sorts of drawings. They range in price from freeware to tens of thousands of dollars. AutoDesk's AutoCAD is the leader in the field, but is also one of the most expensive. You can also use illustration software like Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw as well.

Check the links in my sources for more suggestions.

Ann Said:

Is it better to mount a solar panel on a vehicle at an angle or flat?

We Answered:

Much like the Mars rovers, I would lay them flat. The rovers however also have the ability to follow the sun while they are stationary so they can absorb the maximum amount of energy, but I doubt yours will be as complex as NASA's

Bradley Said:

Will solar modules get damaged or corroded if mounted above sea water?

We Answered:

Sea water is going to be corrosive, so the pannels and electronic controls need to be water/weather tight and salt tight in all instances. The sea air will have some amount of salt in it. Anything metal will corrode in and around sea water, it is only a matter of how long it takes. Even Stainless steel corrodes in a way that is not so apparent in sea water.

They make them.
