Stella Said:

We have a problem with the neighbor's child breaking our stuff but the child is mentally...?

We Answered:

ring them as a matter of urgency, ask to whom you are speaking and what their position is so you can identify them later, record the time and day and the details of the call. Inform them of this child running freely who is mentally disabled and the child is unsppervised and that you believe him to be at risk of harm because of his own actions.

Before you bring the call to an end inform them that you will be putting the details of the call in writing and sending it recorded delivery to their office, make sure that you are able to get a signature. Now they know that it is on record, keep doing this, and inform tham that you are keeping a diary and if something should happen to the child then you will be handing the contents of your diary over to the media.

in your area. I feel very badly for the boy, apparently the Aunt who has to work, does not know there are day-care programs ( or should be) in your area. CPS will no what is available for him. When they visit the home to assess the situation they will not give them your name.

It sounds like the Aunt needs some help with him, and maybe very grateful to know it is available. You should be able to find it in the yellow pages government section..if not call local Welfare office and they will be able to direct you. You are a good neighbor.

What can I use to replace the stakes for my solar lights?

We Answered:

Oh, solar lights. LOL, sorry. uhm... those little plastic steaks that the tube fits onto are a pain. I havent had a problem with the stakes themselves, the post however has warbled out and made it hard to keep the lights standing I used a small peice of rebar smaller than 1/2" I dont know what size it was I used my big bolt cutters to cut it into 8" peices, I JB welded two peices opposite each to the inside of the decorative tube. removed the light from the top, used a block of wood on the top and gently tapped the post into the ground. Be careful especially if you have the plastic tubes, wet the ground or something very good first.
Once you do this do not pull the post up during lawn care. They will be secure enough to use the weed eater around.
