Firstly, you need to know which battery clip is positive (+ sign) and which is negative ( - sign). For your information the red clip is positive and the black clip is negative. Basically, the car battery has range from 12VDC - 24VDC voltage. To check the car battery voltage, you can use multimeter.

Secondly, you need to know the voltage or spec of the electrical component that you are going to connect with the car battery. If that electrical component has spec range within 12 VDC - 24 VDC then you can connect it with the car battery.

thirdly, a 3-pin UK battery normally consists of pin for positive, pin for negative and the other one is pin for grounding. Before you connect the electrical component to the car battery, please identify which pin is negative and which pin is positive. You can connect a 3-pin UK plug to the car battery by follow this condition.... the positive pin must be connected to the red clip (+ sign) of the car battery and the negative pin to the black clip (- sign) on the car battery. Just ignore the ground pin.
