2012 Solar Storm Maximum - Official?

We Answered:

A solar maximum refers to the amount of solar flux (energy) that the sun puts out. It has nothing to do with solar storms. It means that there will be more sunspots and better shortwave propagation and better aurora. We go through at least one major solar storm a month and you can see that the earth is still here. The magnetic pole shift will probably not happen for a long time and 2012 is a guess by the way. NOAA has never been able to predict any solar activity that closely. Believe me, I've been following solar data for 40 years. I don't know your sources about Russia and China but they don't sound correct; why keep any scientific study secret. Sounds like more conspiracy BS to me. By the way, the last solar cycle was very weak.

What will hundreds of fireflies in a glass jar do in total solar ecliptic darkness suddely coming in daytime?

We Answered:

To my mind, it depends on the gender of the fireflies.

Males will probably try to fly out. Females are happy to just sit there, wherever they are.

Rainbow colored ribbon of light in the sky? What did I see?

This site is called Atmospheric Optics. There are some very good pictures of what you saw even on their home page. For every atmospheric effect, they give you a very good scientific reason telling you exactly why you see what you see. This is one of my very favorite websites ever but I want to warn you that you can spend hours here looking at all the incredible things and it will only seem like a few minutes. I hope that you enjoy this as much as I do.

"Solar eclipse pits superstition against science." Are you one of the Primitives spooked by this coming event?

We Answered:

Hahaha...Yeah, I read that article. What a joke.

People REALLY believe this stuff...jeesh.

And "straddles the two worlds!?" WTF? Hahahaha...he's FULLY in deep end of the wacky one.

Craig Said:

Should we be worried about the predicaments about the upcoming Solar Eclipse?

We Answered:

No, not one bit. Those are just superstitions.

Brent Said:

im really annoyed about hearing about the consequences of global warming ?

We Answered:

ok here we go...this is actually a good attitude for you to have. rather than falling for fear mongering you are taking an active role for yourself and family.in addition you are asking the best type of question"where do i go from here?"FIRST OFF no-one knows if the global warming is man made.there is sufficient indicators to suspect but no more.the earth has been this warm before and will be again AND it is right within the cycle that it has been proved through geologic evidence.but is mankind exacerbating the phenomena?as of yet we don't really know.it is true that co2 levels are at record breaking levels.but we don't know the result of the contamination and we don't have a firm enough grasp of the atmospheric engine to project an accurate result.it is true that we should be concerned and think of ways to reduce atmospheric carbon through emissions or filtration but we still don't know the environmental impact of having too little carbon either. the one thing all of the scientific community can agree on is that we need more research.1.we need to know the right amount of carbon to sustain temps on a global scale.2. we need to educate not scare people to control emissions.3.we need an efficient way to remove or filter carbons out of the atmosphere.4.we need to study the atmosphere and gain a better understanding of it before we start to over-react and do irreparable damage trying to fix a possibly nonexistent problem.
