Rechargeable Solar Light Batteries

Kim Said:

help with solar lights?

We Answered:

The problem with charging different types of batteries in non-compatible chargers is going to be either under-charging, or damage from heat, related to over-charging.

The chargers output is different, dependent on the type of batteries. Alkaline, Nickle Metal Hydride, Lithium, Nickle Cadmium all have different electrical values needed for charging at a specific rate, given the amp-hour capacity of that particular battery.

Simply put, its not a good idea to charge these batteries in chargers not designed for them specifically. You can damage them, undercharge them, cause excessive heat, some can even explode.

Can I use 900NiMH rechargeable AAA batteries in place of 650's?

We Answered:

It just means that they last longer before needing to be recharged. But make sure you use the same rating in all 3 batteries. Don't mix and match; otherwise you'll only get the usage of the lowest rating.

solar lights battery question?

We Answered:

Yes it WILL try and charge the batteries.

This COULD lead to a battery explosion and/or leakage which would damage the unit.

IF a unit specifies rechargeable batteries, the ONLY way to safely use regular batteries is to DISCONNECT the charging system.
