Outside Solar Lighting

Dianne Said:

Is there life outside the solar system but inside the rest of the galaxy and not outside the galaxy?

We Answered:

You only have to look at the milky way through a pair of binoculars to get some idea of how mind boggingly huge our galaxy is, the sheer amount of stars will take your breath away or at least make you go "wow" to assume there is no other lifeforms out there would suggest an extreme narrow mindedness.

If you have some binoculars give it a go and have a look, they don't have to be expensive ones, what you will see is amazing, so many stars.

Angel Said:

Will we ever be able to explore outside our solar system?

We Answered:

We might be able to send out probes beyond our solar system but a manned spacecraft will never make it. The astronauts would die LONG before we make it there. We cant even figure out how to put a man on mars yet. Such a voyage would require too much food to carry. Which means the astronauts would have to grow their own food on board. The problem with this is that plants will not grow in a zero gravity invironment. So we're pretty much screwed unless we can figure out a way to make plants grow in zero gravity. Even then, the trip would be too long and the astronauts would still die because when you are in space you lose bone mass too quickly. The loss of this bone mass will kill you long before you make it to your destination.

I mean if we could travel the speed of light it might be possible but there are still many other factors that come into play. So I think its safe to say we will never travel at the speed of light and we will never travel outside our solar system. Or at least not anytime soon.

About us thinking the speed of sound was unreachable. Is this correct? I dont recall reading a history book stating that we used to think the speed of sound was unreachable.

So no. Maybe probes but getting humans out there is very unlikely.

Ricardo Said:

Could a nuclear explosion in space be detected from outside the Solar System?

We Answered:

The largest nuclear device outputted approximately 2x10^17 J of energy. The sun outputs nearly 4x10^26 J every second.

An alien culture would have about the same chance of detecting a nuclear explosion in our solar system while our sun is burning as you would to see a camera flash while watching a nuclear explosion.
