I'm doing some work in a solar power research group at the moment[1]. We work with Cadmium Telluride solar cells which are now being produced at $0.87/Watt-peak by FirstSolar in China, and a power plant built with them is apparently expected to reach grid parity in California:

Having spoken to one of the lead Professors of PV-21, he said that a European solar PV research group expect grid parity somewhere around 2020 in Europe.
BP expects grid parity in much of America by 2015:
