Solar Power Electricity

Casey Said:

Is Solar Power Electricity strong enough yet to Work on General Home Appliances (as Fridge, TV, stove, etc.)?

We Answered:

I have an off grid system that will run my home (I use it as a battery backup system). I as well have a grid tie system that back feeds the utility when I produce more power then I use.

You can get a system that will do battery backup and grid tie at the same time. I installed the off grid system a few years before the grid tie or I would have done both in one unit.

You can get complete systems in kit form. If you want to start out small get a small kit and double it next year because they are stackable.

Karl Said:

What are the advantages and disadvantages of using solar power to generate electricity?

We Answered:

Solar power, hydroelectric, geothermal, and wind energy are very clean and and equally important renewable source of energy.

The advantages are the green factor and renewable sources. Also I believe that a shift toward these types of energy sources Solar in particular will lead to power systems becoming more distributed. I won't go so far as to say that that is an actual advantage but many would . It has a whole set of problems and rewards in of its self.

The disadvantage would be unreliability. This will change much as newer methods are adopted as standard power production methods.

while some would say they are an eye sore I would say no more than any other type energy plant.

At present oil/coal/wood is easy to get at, abundant, and the world is driven by it. There will be a slow shift towards other types of power as they become cheaper and more reliable. You can bet when there are other cheaper forms of energy that are as reliable as current systems they will usurp current power production methods.

how to give a steady supply of water without the use of manpower, animal, wind, solar power, electricity, heat?

We Answered:

You need some source of energy to get the water up the hill. The only source you have left is the potential energy of the water in the pond to the bottom of the hill. There is a device used since the days the Romans built aqueducts called a "hydraulic ram" or "hydraulic ram pump". The energy from a large amount of falling water is used to propel a smaller amount up a hill. There are many ways to build one, one link is below. You can do a search for those terms to find more ways to build one.

does solar power actually help lower your electricity bill over time?

We Answered:

Dear ma,
Thank you, am also fine like you then dear i also appreciate your nice thinking & for better buy a solar panels.

Gerald Said:

What would be the least expensive way to create electricity through solar power?

We Answered:

Concentrating solar power (CSP) is the cheapest way of creating electricity with solar. If you're a do it yourselfer, look into building a stirling engine and having a few mirrors reflect sunlight onto the hot part of it. I made one out of soda cans, but haven't gotten around to making one larger yet. Also, there are bimetallic strips that produce a current when heat passes from one side to the other, but not sure where to find them.

Leonard Said:

For tropical countries around the world, would be possible to generate electricity by using solar power?

We Answered:

There is a project in planning as we speak over in Australia. This guy plans to build a tower 2000ft tall. The base will be surrounded by mirrors elevated about 3 feet. At the base of the tower under the mirrors there will be wind generators The mirrors will trap hot air and since hot air rises it will rush up the inside of the tower pushing turbine motors at the top and produce enough electricity for about 100,000 homes. There are already projects in operation where they point mirrors at a tower that stores water up top. this produces steam to generate electricity.
