That is the bottom line. There are essentially three manufacturing technologies commercially available for the manufacturing of solar panels. The cheapest ones are about half as efficient as the most expensive ones. Just depends on how much you want to spend.

It is not so simple to answer. How much UNIT(KWH) you need daily, How much unit is required in the night. The night electricity has to come from battery storage. The efficiency of storage in Battery is around 80%. If your requirement is 10 Unit, this mean you have to generate arround 12 Units fro Solar panel during the day. For average 5 Hrs of Sun you need arround 2-3 KW PV Systems. The 2.5 KW system should cost you arround 8-10 Lakhs. If you generate power from this type of system, the power cost will be very high. This type of system is advisable only for the places where electricty has not reached. The system cost can be reduced by several way, by adding solar tracker or adopting hybrid system. Where you import power in the night etc. If you tell your requirement and importance of independent system I can give you exact idea of investment
