It's not exactly a deduction, but rather a tax credit. The previous response mentioned the form for the federal tax credit.

Depending what state you are in, you may qualify for a state personal tax credit as well. I know in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New York have one.

There is a system called a Dual Fuel system. This is a heatpump and a gas unit in one. Once the temperature gets too cool for the heat pump side, the gas kicks in.
