Earth sheltered house with complete southern side in double pane glass. My grandfathers place is like that (in Waldo county) and the place never gets below 40- even last Feb- March. It does take another heat source to get it comfortable, but solar helps alot.

solar heaters don't usually get enough sun on winter, so heating the floor will be very hard with a solar heater in winter.

In order to give you a decent diagram, will need to have a full diagram of your house hot water system.
