Why don't you look for countries like China and Taiwan? Labour is cheaper in these countries and they are more advanced than Singapore in terms of solar or wind energy. Because solar energy is very expensive, it is quite impractical in Singapore, as labour costs are high and everything is expensive here.

Solar power will never be popular in Singapore. If you are a good businessman with good foresight, you should invest in solar power in bigger countries. China and Taiwan are good for starters.

I think solar power will one day be perfectly feasible and able to power devices which require a lot less power then they do currently (think of the different power requirement for light between an incandescent lightbulb and quantum dots for example).

I think the insane part, though, is when people assume that you can somehow force solar and wind on to the country and world as a whole when it is nowhere near at the stage when it can supply the electricity we need. Nuclear is the only sensible way to go for power at this moment, unless you want to go back to coal.

Solar energy is very beneficial, because it does not need any fuels or exhaustible resources like coal in the use of production of thermal power. I think it is better to start using solar energy in India, as we are near to the equator. So we can capture enough sun light for appliances like hot water geysers, ovens, etc.
If we can do this, we can reduce the depletion of resources like coal, and we can even stop pollution. This is the need of the hour, and if we stop pollution, we can stop global warming. So, solar energy is truly beneficial and a firm in this field can be started in India.
