Solar Energy For House

Hilda Said:

If I have solar energy should I unplug my fridge while on holiday to sell power back to the grid?

We Answered:

I think the amount you save would be negotiable. However I seen some where The Electrical Company at one time to save power was going to shut persons electrical power off for specified short periods for persons who volunteered. They were given a cheaper rate. This could be a good idea. A refrigerator ,freezer can be shut down for an hour not affecting what is inside. So your idea would not be bad if more people can do it . Before you leave your refrigerator alone .Do a good clean up job. Leave the door open a foot, to allow fresh air to circulate. I would agree with you about turn off the fridge while holidaying would be a good concept for solar energy homes My math is tad bad . Where do you get this 60 cents a watt

Dorothy Said:

how much does it cost (if pretty cheap) for every thing i would need to run my house on solar energy?

We Answered:

True, it is cheaper to build solar panels yourself, providing you have the skills needed. But Nanosolar now is a different story. Nanosolar is largely produced as an inkjet operating on an aluminum foil roll, so that it produces many square meters of solar collector for the cost of one traditional panel. There is not any product available that will make solar electricity cheap compared to nuclear generated electricity, other than Nanosolar. You might want to look up Nanosolar.com
