a lot of homes are switching to solar and companies can be found in the phone book or by googling "solar power/florida". Figure it will take you 5-10 years to recoup your expense, but it makes the property more valuable. Plus it helps the environment. I've had mine (in CA) for three years and save about two hundred a month on electric. I'm sure florida will be about the same. Hard to compare FL with MA with regards to costs.

My entire home is solar powered, and I will also be converting my combustion engine vehicle to electric, so that it can be powered from the sun as well.
