Cost Of Solar Power

Karl Said:

Solar Power vs Nuclear Power - Cost Efficiency No Consideration?

We Answered:

I heard recently that solar panels pay for themselves in 8 years. And with the cost of fuel going up they may pay off in 4 years. They are guaranteed for about 10 years and the life expectancy is about 25-30 years. If government would subsidize the cost and more manufacturers began producing them their costs would go down. Plus they can be put on almost anyone's roof and do not pollute and pose no danger (unlike nuclear). I think solar and wind turbines installed on single family homes is the way to go.

Why are solar power costing too much?

We Answered:

if everyone got solar power then the electric company would go out of business and they sure don't want that to happen

the cost of solar power?

there are a number of sites you can visit, but you really have a bigger headache than you understand,

i'm working with the same challenge, i have been getting help from altenergy.com

you can get a check list from them and work off of that and then start figuring this out with careful analysis.....

i'm using a hybrid system, solar, wind and grid back up

all of the first two are really inefficient, the latter is the most effienct and uses the combusion of fossil fuels

i am using battery powered outside lights, recharged by day and you can find them on line, not the crumby little garden lights, but real light that is useful to work. they are expensive but worth it
