Well, its a yes and no kind of answer. Can a wind generator or solar panels put money in your pocket? Yes.

However the high purchase cost and low output returning to the power grid makes this only viable over a very long period of time. Say 10 years.

That being said, if you can finance a solar cell or wind turbine into your mortgage on the property and then use its output to offset the monthly power requirements of the property then it could pay off in the form of a lower electricity bill each month.
