Why Is Solar Energy Important

Julian Said:

why are rain and solar energy important inputs into a woodland ecosystem?

We Answered:

Generally rain and solar energy (sunlight) are the only inputs to a woodland ecosystem. They support the growth of the plants and trees which in turn support all the other life (e.g. bacteria, worms, nematodes, fungi, insects, animals). These other life forms also use rain and sunlight directly. Trees and plants also use nutrients in the soil to help in their growth but these nutrients are recycled when the plant or tree reached old age and dies.

Woodland ecosystems are so efficient at converting rain and sunlight into growth that it is often possible to harvest reasonable amounts of wood from such systems in a sustainable manner. Hunting can also provide sustainable food. But care is needed to avoid over-exploitation and damage to sustainability.

I hope this answers your question but for a more detailed answer see…

Best wishes

Alfred Said:

Why is solar energy important to us?

We Answered:

The sun has produced energy for billions of years. Solar energy is the sun’s rays (solar radiation) that reach the earth.

Solar energy can be converted into other forms of energy, such as heat and electricity. In the 1830s, the British astronomer John Herschel used a solar thermal collector box (a device that absorbs sunlight to collect heat) to cook food during an expedition to Africa. Today, people use the sun's energy for lots of things.

Solar energy can be converted to thermal (or heat) energy and used to:

Heat water – for use in homes, buildings, or swimming pools.

Heat spaces – inside greenhouses, homes, and other buildings.

Solar energy can be converted to electricity in two ways:

Photovoltaic (PV devices) or “solar cells” – change sunlight directly into electricity. PV systems are often used in remote locations that are not connected to the electric grid. They are also used to power watches, calculators, and lighted road signs.

Solar Power Plants - indirectly generate electricity when the heat from solar thermal collectors is used to heat a fluid which produces steam that is used to power generator. Out of the 15 known solar electric generating units operating in the United States at the end of 2006, 10 of these are in California, and 5 in Arizona. No statistics are being collected on solar plants that produce less than 1 megawatt of electricity, so there may be smaller solar plants in a number of other states.

Roberto Said:

In the solar energy balance process why is infrared, 10 ?m emission thought to be most important?

We Answered:

because the smaller wave lengths pass through the atmosphere without warming it. The infrared wave lengths are given off by the earth as heat energy and escapes into space. However, infrared wavelengths excite molecules with 3 atoms or more which radiate it in all directions resulting in warming. .

Clifton Said:

why are solar car important alternant energy sources?

We Answered:

I don't know of any mass produced solar cars.

Solar cells aren't powerful enough to power a car right now.

Plug in hybrids could make use of solar power from the utility grid if power companies make it available.

Milton Said:

why is solar energy important in our life?

We Answered:

Source of solar energy is the sun and without the sun there would be no life.
The sun provides the heat to keep this mudball thawed out.
The sun provides the light for the photosynthesis needed by plants.
The planet needs the plants for food and oxygen to support "higher" forms of life.

a great answer to the question why rain and solar energy important inputs into a woodland ecosystem, also found its answer on solar energy is indeed a very helpful source of energy.
