Why Is Solar Energy Good

Derek Said:

Why is solar energy good for Earth?

We Answered:

The Earth (as a planet) is indifferent to the solar energy.

If you meant solar energy for people, it is an additional (very expensive and not productive) source of heat and electric energy. Solar energy production industry can not survive on its profit, it need subsidiaries from government (people taxes). Lots of it!

It is not any cleaner then other types of energy resources. The development of solar power batteries is very toxic and has a lots of toxic waist. The solar batteries have to take a lot of space to produce any relevant useful energy. So all natural life (trees, animals, etc.) should be removed (killed and destroyed) from the area of the solar power station on many miles around, and concrete and metal and solar batteries will take this place.

It makes sense for rich people to have some solar power batteries on their roofs I guess, to warm up their pools, and have some extra energy for the home. But the placement of these devices still not cheap at all. But it looks like totally useless, and very expensive way for general population energy production.

Is solar energy a good option for India? Why or why not?

We Answered:

Also seasonal hydro energy...
Great quantities of variable energy can be used to produce ammonia (fertilizant)...

Roy Said:

what is solar Energy why is it so important why is it good for us?

We Answered:

Solar energy is obviously a continuous energy source as the sun is always shining. When compared to fossil fuel, which is non-renewable and pollutes, solar energy is the best alternative for energy sources. The problem at the moment is lack of efficiency as we have not been able to mimic photosynthesis to trap the energy in sunlight (photons) the way that plants have. However, research on photosynthetic solar panels is ongoing in New Zealand and should hopefully be available in coming years.

Justin Said:

why could solar energy be good for everyone?

We Answered:

The real story on Solar is that it is the most costly form of energy out there. While it sounds good on the surface, hey the sun is shining and I'm making electricity, the hidden costs are what it takes to convert and store the energy for use. To power a typical house you will not recover the cost when compared to what you would pay from your local utility. An added piece of information Solar systems require regular routine service and replacement of the battery and inverter.

Note: To those who say it doesn't pollute, wrong, they forget the manufacturing process and later the disposal of the old batteries.

Ralph Said:

why is solar energy better than fossil fuel?

We Answered:

There are multiple reasons...
1) Less impact. Solar energy comes from (here's the shocker...jk) the Sun! You see our sun is a renewable resource, therefore it won't run out. Or at least not in the next three billion years :) Fossil fuels, however, are in a limited supply and take millions of years of heat and pressure to form. You tell me, which one will run out first?
2) CO2 Emmisions. CO2, or carbon dioxide, is released into the atmoshpherre when fossil fuels are burned. So are other green house gases (methane, nitrogen, etc.) that trap in heat and sunlight, forming global warming. Now, it's totally normal to have CO2 in the air, but humans have put in way to much. This make the whole delicate balance of nature totally off. This takes credit for unusual weather, higher ocean levels, mass extinction, melting ice caps/glaciers, and more.
