How many bricks must be incorporated into the interior of the house to provide the same total heat capacity...?

i hope you dont expect a dumb brickie like me to answer that one...

Arlene Said:

How would you find the total heat capacity of 1800 gal of water?

We Answered:

The heat capacity of water is (by definition) one Calorie per kilogram - degree, and 1800 gallons of water is about 14,400 pounds, or 6500 kilograms. Since this is 6500 Calories per degree, all you need to do is to multiply by joules per Calorie (4,187) to get the number of joules. Figure the joules per brick, and do the obvious division.

1.4 x10 ^3 gal of water @ 3.784 litres / gal = 5.3 X 10 ^3 litres

=5.3 X10^6 millilitres = 5.3 X 10^6 grams

----------------------

5.3 X 10^6 grams)(4.18joules /gC) = 2.21 X 10 ^ 7 joules / C
from water

Bricks:
(1800 grams)(0.85 joules/ gK)= 1530 joules per brick
